Domaine des Buissonnes, Sancerre Caillotte (2024)
The 2024 Domaine des Buissonnes Sancerre Caillotte is a crisp, dry white wine made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc in France's Loire Valley, featuring bright lemon, chalky minerals, and flinty notes.
Sancerre is more expensive than local Suavignon Blanc because it is a specific, legally protected wine region with limited production, high global demand, and difficult hand-farmed vineyards. (Sancerre is actually made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, but not all Sauvignon Blanc is Sancerre.)
This is a small family estate consisting of some 22 acres with 24 acres planted to Sauvignon Blanc and 9 acres to Pinot Noir. The family farms the vineyards which are mostly located in the valleys of the village Sury en Vaux. The winemaking here is very natural, though the resulting wine style is classical in taste/flavor profile.
